“House of the Dragon” To End With Season 4

HBO’s flagship franchise “Game of Thrones” has to date had one spinoff series hit the small screen. This is a far cry from the once suggested 8 possible spinoffs set in that world we were supposed to get. “The House of the Dragon” just wrapped up it’s second season with the finale airing last night. Fans are….not happy.

Without spoilers- the general consensus seems to be that not enough happened in the finale, with the story not moving enough one way or another.

Author George RR Martin, who created the “Song of Ice and Fire,” has maintained “The House of the Dragon” would most likely need to be 4 seasons to properly tell the story. That seems to be the case, as the series will reportedly end with season 4. Showrunner Ryan Condal revealed this news.

Season 3 will reportedly start filming sometime in 2025, with a possible airdate of 2026. Going on that timeline, we may see the 4th and final season sometime in….2028?

You can catch “Game of Thrones,” and “The House of the Dragon” on HBO and streaming service MAX. The second spinoff series “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms” is set to hit June 15th, 2025.
