“JAWS” 50th Anniversary Documentary Coming in 2025

It’s one of the GREATEST FILMS EVER MADE that caused generations of viewers to be afraid of the ocean. Steven Spielberg‘s classic “Jaws,” based on the Peter Benchley novel of the same name, has one Carcharodon carcharias-sized anniversary coming up. 2025 marks the 50th anniversary for the film, released June 20th 1975.

Because of this monumental occasion, a brand new documentary about the film is on the way.

Nat Geo has reportedly greenlit “Jaws @ 50,” which will be directed by Nedland Media’s Laurent Bouzereau. It will include footage and photography from the Benchley and Spielberg archives, as well as all-new interviews from the worlds of film, literature, pop culture and ocean conservation.

“National Geographic has celebrated sharks for over two decades with our annual summer event Sharkfest, so we naturally jumped at the chance to partner with Amblin Documentaries and Nedland Media on ‘Jaws @ 50,’” Senior Vice President, Production and Development, National Geographic Janet Vissering said. “’Jaws‘ not only became a massive pop culture phenomenon, but the initial fear it elicited propelled the world’s fascination with sharks, opening the door to our understanding of these apex predators and stressing the urgency in protecting our oceans.”

“Jaws @ 50” is only a working title. We’ll let you know what we hear about this and other news.
