Yes, we are almost to St. Patrick’s Day, and that means lots of green beer and and all that nonsense is well and truly upon us. What about though, that very important dark and delicious export from the Emerald Isle? No, not the amber nectar of the Gods, whisky. The one that even Jason Momoa is obsessed with- Guinness.

The beer brand has quite a history, one that “Peaky Blinders” creator Steven Knight will delve into with a new series for Netflix; “House of Guinness.”

“The Guinness dynasty is known the world over – wealth, poverty, power, influence, and great tragedy are all intertwined to create a rich tapestry of material to draw from,” Knight said of the project. “I’ve always been fascinated by their stories and am excited to bring the characters to life for the world to see.”

Tom Shankland (“House of Cards,” “Marvel’s The Punisher,” “The Serpent“) and Mounia Akl (“Boiling Point,” “Costa Brava Lebanon“) will direct all episodes. We don’t have a cast list yet, but we DO have a synopsis:

“HOUSE OF GUINNESS will tell the epic story of one of Europe’s most famous and enduring dynasties – The Guinness Family. Set in 19th-century Dublin and New York, the story will focus on the consequences of the death of Benjamin Guinness, the man responsible for the extraordinary success of the Guinness brewery, and the far-reaching impact of his cunning will on the fate of his four adult children, Arthur, Edward, Anne, and Ben, as well as on a group of Dublin characters who work and interact with the growing juggernaut that is Guinness.”

Obviously, we’ll let you know what we hear about this and other news. Last we heard, Knight was working on his “Star Wars” project, reviving the “Spartacus” tv series, and the long-gestation second season of the Tom Hardy series, “Taboo.”
