Hugh Grant is really having a grand time right now. From being a key character in the recent “Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Amongst Thieves“ film to playing an Oompa Loompa in the recent “Wonka” film, this Englishman is no stranger to…odd roles. This is what brings us to the news that he’ll have a role in Jerry Seinfeld‘s “Unfrosted: The Pop-Tarts Story,” and we really weren’t expecting it.

    “Unfrosted: The Pop-Tarts Story” Netflix

“Set in Michigan in 1963: Kellogg’s and Post, sworn cereal rivals, race to create a pastry that will change the face of breakfast forever,” the film’s official logline reads. “A tale of ambition, betrayal, sugar and menacing milkmen.”

    Yeah, that’s Tony the Tiger.

“That was the greatest part of the whole thing, honestly,” Seinfeld told Empire Magazine. “Because I am a crazy fan of his.” For the first time in 30 years, Grant filmed an audition tape for Seinfeld, the comedy legend who stars, writes, and is director on Unfrosted. “[Hugh] asked me if it matters that Tony the Tiger has a British accent. I told him, ‘No, who cares?’”

The film, which will tell the story of one of the most popular breakfast treats, will also star Seinfeld (who wrote the film), Melissa McCarthy, Jim Gaffigan, Amy Schumer, James Marsden, Jack McBrayer, Tom Lennon, Adrian Martinez, Bobby Moynihan, Max Greenfield, Christian Slater, and Sarah Cooper.

So, clearly, Seinfeld thinks Grant is..GRRR-REAT!

“Unfrosted: The Pop-Tarts Story” will hit Netflix May 3rd, 2024.
