Mickey Mouse Horror Movie Gets First Trailer

It’s been 100 years Walt Disney‘s animated film “Steamboat Willie” released. Which, if you’re in the know, means as of January 1st, the character and film are now public domain. This means people can use the character and film, making their own stories with them, without fear of The House of Mouse cracking down on them.

So, of course, the very first project to use the public domain character is a horror movie. Think of “Mickey’s Mouse Trap” as something akin to the Winnie the Pooh inspired “Blood & Honey” (which is getting a sequel).

“We just wanted to have fun with it all. I mean it’s Steamboat Willie’s Mickey Mouse murdering people,” director Jamie Bailey said. “It’s ridiculous. We ran with it and had fun doing it and I think it shows.”

Simon Phillips, who also wrote “Mickey’s Mouse Trap,” stars alongside Sophie McIntosh, Callum Sywyk, Allegra Nocita, Ben Harris, Mirelle Gagne, Mackenzie Mills, James Laurin, Kayleigh Styles, Jesse Nasmith, Madeline Kelman, Damir Kovic, and Nick Biskupek.

While it doesn’t have a set release date, the production is aiming for “sometime in March” of 2024. Check out the trailer now:
