    “Halloween” Film, TV Rights Land at Miramax

    After several weeks of intense bidding, the “Halloween” film franchise rights have found a new home. Miramax, which is owned by Paramount, won the bidding war for tv and film rights. The first project on the docket for the Michael Myers verse? Why, that tv series we first heard rumblings of back in May of this year, of course.

    Miramax is partnering with Malek Akkad’s Trancas International Films for the first of a planned series of projects. The tv series could be the launching point for a brand new set of films, too.

    “We couldn’t be more excited to bring Halloween to television,” Head of Global TV at Miramax Marc Helwig said. “We are thrilled to expand our long and successful partnership with Trancas and the brilliant Malek Akkad in introducing this iconic franchise to a new form of storytelling and a new generation of fans.”

    Previous reports indicated that A24 had won the rights, but that isn’t the case.

    Miramax already co-owned the “Halloween” film franchise rights with Trancas. We’ll let you know what we hear about this and other news.
