    Greta Gerwig Writing, Directing 2 Narnia Films for Netflix

    And here we thought today would be a slow news day! 3-time Oscar nominee Greta Gerwig (“Lady Bird,” “Little Women“) is apparently headed through the wardrobe at Netflix. The “Barbie” helmer is writing and directing ‘at least two’ films set in C.S. Lewis‘s classic series, “The Chronicles of Narnia.”

    Back in October of 2018, the streaming giant made the announcement they’d entered into a multi year deal with the estate and rights holders of Lewis’s IP. “Under the terms of a multi-year deal between Netflix and The C.S. Lewis Company, Netflix will develop classic stories from across the Narnia universe into series and films for its members worldwide,” the original press release read.

    This project has been rumored throughout the years, but was just confirmed officially today by The New Yorker.

    While not much is known about the project(s) yet, and Gerwig herself hasn’t offered any comment. We’ll let you know what we hear about this and other news.
