    David Corenswet, Rachel Brosnahan to Lead “Superman: Legacy”

    James Gunn has found his Superman and Lois Lane for the upcoming DC Studios film, “Superman: Legacy.”

    David Corenswet (“House of Cards“) will play Kal-El / Clark Kent / Superman, and Rachel Brosnahan (“Marvelous Mrs. Maisel“) will play Lois Lane. Corenswet is 29, and stands a whopping 6’4, which actually ties him with Christopher Reeve for the tallest actor to portray the character. Tom Welling (“Smallville“) is 6’3, Brandon Routh (“Superman Returns“) is 6’2, Henry Cavill (“Man of Steel“) is 6’1, Tyler Hoechlin (“Superman & Lois“) is 6’0, and Dean Cain (“New Adventures of Lois and Clark“) is also 6’0.

    Emmy winner Brosnahan, 32, led the critically acclaimed Amazon series “Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” for 5 season. Considering Lois Lane is SUPPOSED to be a Pultizer prize winning reporter, we’re pretty excited to see the return of whip-quick dialog delivery and pluck, things we know Brosnahan can deliver.

    The race for these coveted roles has been tight, reports indicate. Gunn, who will be writing and directing the film, confirmed the news.

    Screen tests for the film took place last week, and included those in the running for Clark Kent / Superman; Nicholas Hoult (“The Great,” “Mad Max: Fury Road“), Corenswet (“House of Cards“), and Tom Brittney (“Grantchester“). And the current favorites for Lois Lane; Emma Mackey (“Barbie,” “Sex Education“), Phoebe Dynevor (“Bridgerton“), and Brosnahan (“The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel“). Also, we should mention these tests included full hair and makeup, which means THE suit. All three men were brought back for a second day, but only Mackey was on hand as Lois to read with them. We kinda thought that meant maybe Mackey was the forerunner, but that was obviously not the case.

    Superman: Legacy DC Comics, DC Studios

    Casting for Lex Luthor hasn’t happened yet, but two names apparently being considered as brothers Bill Skarsgård (“Hemlock Grove,” “IT”) and Alexander Skarsgård (“Tarzan,” “Succession“). They are the sons of Stellan Skarsgård (“Dune,” “Thor“), and brothers of fellow actor, Gustaf Skarsgård (“Vikings,” “Westworld“). We don’t know who else might be on that list, but Hoult *could* theoretically be on it as well.

    “Superman: Legacy” currently has a release date of July 11th, 2025. We’ll let you know what we hear about this and other news.
