    This just in-

MAX, the rechristened name of HBO Max and Discovery+’s merged streaming services, has indeed put in a series order for a “Harry Potter” television show. As we’ve been hearing for some time, the company really wanted to revisit one of their most popular IPs by developing a show. It will theoretically spend 1 season per book of author and noted transphobe JK Rowling‘s original 7 novel saga. She’ll also be involved as an executive producer. But just how deeply that means, we’re not sure.

It was also promised a 10-year commitment. It’s unclear if this means 10 seasons, or just 10 years with production time factored in.

“Each season will be authentic to the original books and bring Harry Potter and these incredible adventures to new audiences around the world,” a statement reads. “The original, classic and beloved films will remain at the core of the franchise and available to watch globally.”

“We are delighted to give audiences the opportunity to discover Hogwarts in a whole new way,” Casey Bloys, HBO head, said. “Harry Potter is a cultural phenomenon and it is clear there is such an enduring love and thirst for the Wizarding World. In partnership with Warner Bros. Television and J.K. Rowling, this new Max Original series will dive deep into each of the iconic books that fans have continued to enjoy for all of these years.” With this exciting new development, fans old and new can engage more deeply with the series, and what better way to do so than by participating in a Harry Potter quiz.

We’ll let you know what we hear about this and other news.
