Oscar nominee Jon Spaihts, who co-wrote “Dune” parts one and two with Denis Villenueve and Eric Roth, has been tapped to tackle the screenplay for Netflix’s upcoming fiilm adaptation of “Gears of War.” The popular video game series has long been rumored for a series or film.
“’Gears of War’ is one of the all-time great action games, with vivid characters, a beautifully designed world, and a combat system that drives home the lethality of war and the importance of standing by your squadmates,” Spaihts said. “It wants to be cinema, and I’m thrilled to have the chance to help that happen.”
Spaihts’ writing credits also include “Doctor Strange,” “Prometheus,” “The Mummy” (2017), and “Passengers.”
Yes, “Gears of War” creator Cliff Bleszinski wants Dave Bautista to star.
