following legal charges against a “Rick and Morty” co-creator and producer, Hulu and Adult Swim have made the decision to part ways with Justin Roiland. This comes after Roiland was charged with one felony count of domestic battery (with corporal injury), and one felony count of false imprisonment by menace, violence, fraud and/or deceit.
“Adult Swim has ended its association with Justin Roiland,” a spokesperson said in a statement Tuesday. The characters of Rick Sanchez and Morty Smith from the animated series “Rick and Morty” will be recast. Co-creator Dan Harmon has yet to issue a statement.
Lawyers for Roiland continue to claim innocence on behalf of their client. “We also have every expectation that this matter is on course to be dismissed once the District Attorney’s office has completed its methodical review of the evidence,” a statement from Roiland’s legal team read.
Roiland could be looking at 7 years in prison if found guilty.
