This just in-
it would appear there is a real reason for the ongoing delay for the next “Tomb Raider” film. According to reports, MGM Studios has lost the battle for ownership rights to the franchise. The rights have reverted to Graham King and GK Films.
Earlier this week, rumors of bidding wars from streaming services and other studios were rampant, and now we know why. It’s also worth noting Square Enix, who was the video game publisher for the Tomb Raider titles, also recently sold their stake in the franchise.
This also means any possible sequels starring Alicia Vikander are unlikely.
Amazon recently purchased MGM Studios, which still holds the rights for the Bond franchise going forward.
