Alexandra Daddario to Play Rowan Mayfair for AMC’s Series

    This just in-

Alexandra Daddario (“White Lotus,” “Why Women Kill“) has been cast to take on the role of Anne Rice‘s character Rowan Mayfair. Hailing from The Mayfair Witches stories, Rowan is a gifted surgeon, as well as a powerful witch unaware of her family history.

AMC greenlit the series mere days before Rice passed away in 2021.

On a personal note, I freaking love the Mayfair Witches, and am delighted we’re getting the show. Daddario is fantastic, but I’m not sure how I feel about her as Rowan. The character is meant to be severe (ok, Daddario has that look down), with moments of warmth and vulnerability. Can she play this part? Absolutely. Is she what I pictured in the many, many times I’ve read all the books? No.

Highly suggest picking up the first Mayfair Witches book, “The Witching Hour,” before the series comes out.

It’s worth noting also that Rowan and the Vampire Lestat eventually meet and….well….they get along. Very very well. AMC recently offered a first look at their upcoming adaptation of “Interview with the Vampire” as well.

We’ll let you know what else we hear about this and other projects.
