“X-Men” Writer to Develop “American McGee’s Alice” TV Series

A project based on American McGee’s Alice titles has been rumored for years. Nay, decades at this point. It never quite makes it out of the pitch meeting. We’re kind of hoping that’s the case with this latest attempt. Not because we don’t love the EA Games’ titles, but because we don’t care for the writer attached.

David Hayter, known for his script work on Bryan Singer‘s first two “X-Men” films, is apparently working on developing this project. Sure, he also has “Watchmen” on his resume, but he also has “The Scorpion King” and Netflix’s “Warrior Nun.” So. Set your expectations low, we guess.

“American McGee’s Alice and Alice: Madness Returns game series is a groundbreaking reimagining of the classic tale. It takes you into the heart of a corrupted Wonderland and throws light into shadowy corners the world has never seen. I am beyond excited to bring this world of madness and wonder to a global audience,” Hayter said of the news.

The American McGee’s Alice titles reimagine Lewis Carroll‘s classic tale of Wonderland in a very dark and steampunk gothic world.

“David Hayter brings imagination, experience, and stealth sneaking skills gained through successful missions in film, TV, and video games – a unique combination sure to make this adventure into Wonderland a successful one for the franchise and the fans. I am excited to be working with him and know the Alice fans will welcome him with mad affection,” McGee said.

At present, there are no plans for where this show might end up. We’ll let you know what we hear.
