Canadian Uses Pants to Steal Anniversary Les Paul Guitar

Imagine you’re working in your local Guitar Center (or mom and pop shop). It’s a totally normal day, kids are convincing their parents to buy them drums or a keyboard. That guy you always see at the local coffee shop open mic night is hanging up flyers. Maybe you’re restocking strings, maybe you’re rehanging the “No Stairway” sign.

But then, some dude decides to really mess up your day by stealing a guitar.

Not by credit card fraud or fake bills, either. Guy literally stuffed a 60th anniversary ’59 Gibson Les Paul guitar down his pants. In the provided security cam footage, we can see the suspect sitting on a stool. He then, for whatever reason, decides shoving the headstock and neck down his freaking pant legs is the best way to steal it. You can even see him drop his phone while trying to do this. He then covers the butt end of the beautiful classic sunburst Les Paul with his sweatshirt.

The person then reaches over and grabs what looks like an electric-accustic, to…throw employees off the scent? Practice his arpeggios? We don’t know.

Investigators have released images and video surveillance. They’ve also released descriptions of the two suspects:

Of course the other suspect has a freaking manbun

SUSPECT #1: • Male, white • 20s • Wearing extremely large, baggy pants, a black coat and a Toronto Maple Leafs baseball hat

    SUSPECT #2: • Male, white • 20 to 30 • Wearing a black mask, a black hoodie and sunglasses

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact the York Regional Police #2 District Criminal Investigations Bureau at 1-866-876-5423, ext.7241, or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS or leave an anonymous tip online.
