Live-Action “Blade Runner” Series Pilot Written Says Ridley Scott

[Rain sounds, Vangelis playing] Los Angeles. November 2021.

While doing ye olde press junket for his upcoming film “House of Gucci,” Ridley Scott dropped some pretty big news. According to the 83-year old auteur, a live-action television series based on his seminal film “Blade Runner” is in the works.

This is not to be confused with Crunchyroll’s “Blade Runner: Black Lotus” anime which is currently airing. This would be a wholly new project.

“We [have already] written the pilot for ‘Blade Runner’ and the bible. So, we’re already presenting ‘Blade Runner’ as a TV show, the first 10 hours,” Scott told the BBC. He went on to confirm a similar plan for an “Alien” project is also in the works.

Also not to be confused with Noah Hawley‘s upcoming “Aliens” project for FX, which will reportedly take place on Earth, and center on The Company pulling the strings rather than the Xenomorphs themselves.

Scott’s next big film project will be another period piece, a biopic of Napoleon Bonaparte titled “Kitbag.” Oscar winner will star Joaquin Phoenix as the French Emperor, and Jodie Comer will play Empress Joséphine. Production is expected to kick off on January 15th, 2021.

Clearly this “Blade Runner” series is pretty big news, and without more to go on, we’re kind of lost. Like tears, in the rain.

We’ll let you know what else we hear about this and other news.
