We’re only beginning to scratch the surface of all the possibilities in a Disney-owning-Fox world; what films and limboing projects may yet see the light of day with the House of Mouse acquisitions? One that we had totally forgot about was a long-gestating reboot/remake of classic serial comic, Flash Gordon.
If you know your Star Wars lore, you may have a vested interest in this particular reboot, as it’s the project George Lucas wanted to make. He was told no, and ended up doing the star saga instead.
Could a possible Disney-owned Flash (aaaaah-aaaah) be the thing that would tempt the filmmaker back out of retirement?
Why are we even talking about this? Well, according to Borys Kit of The Hollywood Reporter, one of the titles in the lump 21st Century Fox purchase was Julius Avery‘s Flash Gordon which was announced last year.
Last year, Julius Avery signed to write and direct a FLASH GORDON movie for Fox. Script is in (heard it’s hardcore) but unclear what the status is, given the Disney acquisition. Another takeaway: Disney now owns movie rights to Flash Gordon.

Obviously, this is far from a confirmation of the project’s likelihood of happening, but we’d certainly be interested to see a “hardcore” Flash.
