We’re still kind of sat we won’t be getting a James Bond film from director Danny Boyle, but, we do have high hopes for what Cary Joji Fukunaga is bringing to the 007 table in Bond 25.

There has been much speculation as to why Boyle suddenly left the project, most seemed to center around the ubiquitous reason of “creative differences” all the way up to “casting ideas”.

In a recent chat with Empire Online, Boyle commented on *his* reasons for departing the project, citing a difference of script:

“What John [Hodge] and I were doing, I thought, was really good. It wasn’t finished, but it could have been really good.We were working very, very well, but they didn’t want to go down that route with us. So we decided to part company, and it would be unfair to say what it was because I don’t know what Cary [Joji Fukunaga] is going to do. I got a very nice message from him and I gave him my best wishes… It is just a great shame.”

It’s just a snippet from the upcoming Avengers: Endgame issue of the magazine, available now.

Bond 25 will see the return of Daniel Craig to the role of James Bond, as well as Ralph Fiennes, Naomie Harris, Ben Whishaw, and Léa Seydoux. Last we heard, Oscar winning actor Rami Malek was being eyed for the villain role, and the rumored involvement of Lupita Nong’o had been refuted by her camp.

The film currently has a release date of April 8th 2020.
