4 Photos from Westworld Season 2, Episode 5, “Akane No Mai”

The tail end of last week’s Westworld episode teased the final reveal of the Shogun World part of Delos’s Park. There was a (literal) flash of a man with a katana, and the preview for season 2, episode 5 showed even more of the rich Japanese-themed area.

Today, HBO released four first-look images of the new park area ahead of this coming Sunday’s episode, “Akane No Mai”. Roughly translated, (super roughly by sengatenga on reddit) the title means “Red Dance”.  It was also pointed out that there is a feminine case present, so theoretically it more than likely ties into Pacific Rim star Rinko Kikuchi‘s character Akane in this episode.

The four images (thanks HBO!) feature Maeve (Thandie Newton), Hector (Rodrigo Santoro), Armistice (Ingrid Bolsø Berdal), and Musashi (Hiroyuki Sanada) in Shogun World:

“Shogun World extends a welcome to all,” the episode description reads, and it’s pretty obvious it’ll be a deep dive into a Samurai-based world. This new area has been teased for a while now, with the SXSW Sweetwater pop-up town including a full armored Samurai warrior walking around.

Westworld airs on HBO on Sunday nights, and you can catch up with our most recent stream-of-consciousness review for season 2, episode 4 “Riddle of the Sphinx”, here.
