First of all, Paramount’s upcoming live-action Dora The Explorer film is gonna have a slightly more interesting title than it’s cartoon predecessor- Dora And The Lost City of Gold.

Second of all, that monkey does not LOOK like it’s wearing boots.  BUT- we do know who’s voicing him, and it’s none other than Danny Trejo!  (He also revealed the first trailer will be coming this weekend during the Nickelodeon Kid’s Choice Awards)

The rumors are true, I finally can tell you I am a monkey…Boots!!! Don’t miss the @DoraMovie trailer this Saturday 3/23, debuting live during the @Nickelodeon Kid’s Choice Awards! #DoraMovie pic.twitter.com/gr5rq0xRYp

Thirdly, an official synopsis for the film:

Having spent most of her life exploring the jungle with her parents, nothing could prepare Dora (Isabela Moner) for her most dangerous adventure ever – High School. Always the explorer, Dora quickly finds herself leading Boots (her best friend, a monkey), Diego (Jeffrey Wahlberg), a mysterious jungle inhabitant (Eugenio Derbez), and a rag tag group of teens on a live-action adventure to save her parents (Eva Longoria, Michael Peña) and solve the impossible mystery behind a lost city of gold.

We also know that Adriana Barraza, Temuera Morrison, Nicholas Coombe, Madeleine Madden, and Danny Trejo are on board for the film, as well as Benicio del Toro as the villainous Swiper.

James Bobin is directing for Paramount Players, and the film is expected to hit theaters on August 2nd, 2019.
